We chose this cruise based on our previous RCCL experiences and the itinerary. Jewel of the Seas is a great size cruise ship - not one of those huge floating cities but certainly sufficient so that you had space on sea days. The ports we visited provided plenty of sights to see. Majorca and Messina proved to be our favorites. Staff on board the "Jewel" were always friendly and attentive, and we were very appreciative of our cabin attendant and the dining room staff. Food was standard RCCL, certainly test and well varied. Wine list was certainly reasonable. I suggest that you take the "10 drinks for $85" package, which we used to have a glass of wine each evening. Entertainment was good, with three of the evening shows being outstanding.
We mixed RCCL shore excursions with others that we arranged ourselves, both through Cruise Critic and directly. These proved to be better organized with smaller group sizes, and were, to us, more enjoyable.
Summary: a really good cruise experience with i would highly recommend.
The cabin was certainly ok for us - standard RCCL amenities that we've enjoyed before. The bed was comfortable. Storage space was good. Room was always cleaned and bed was always made. However, "Jewel" is just starting to show her age.
Not a great deal to do other than walk through the old part of the city
