We chose this cruise for the variety of unusual cities included in the trip. The cruise began with a few days on land in Prague and the Czech Republic. We then cruised through Bavaria, Germany, on to Vienna and disembarked in Budapest. The ship was lovely and luxurious. The staff was courteous and knowledgeable. Everything went extremely well until our ship hit a rock in the river and broke a propeller in the middle of the night. To facilitate the repair, all passengers had to be off ship for an entire day. Unfortunately, that day was 106 degrees and the shore excursions were not well planned by Avalon. For instance, all passengers were put on a non-air conditioned, non-ventilated ferry for several hours. It was extremely uncomfortable. We all understood that accidents happen, but we did not expect to be treated in such an uncaring manner. It really was a shame.
Beautiful, nothing more needs to be said.
