My now wife and I had never been on a cruise and could not decide on a singular location for our honeymoon, so we decided to try out a cruise. I did some research and asked around to my friends who had cruised before and the general consensus was that Norwegian was a great line. So I did some looking for different ships and itineraries, and picked the Getaway out of Miami. Since it was our honeymoon we decided to get a mini-suite, and everyone told me to go low on the floor and middle of the ship, so thats what we did. Was on the 9th floor mid-ship, and we loved our room. We also got a 3 dining package and the beverage package. Let me tell you, if you like food, and you like to drink, get the drink package and at least a 3 day dining package. We chose Cagneys, La Cucina, and Moderno for our three specialty restaurants and they were all amazing. We only took one excursion this time, as we wanted to save our money for shopping in port. We did the stingray excursion on Cozumel. I thought it was pretty cool and my wife loved it! I will say this though, check out 3rd party excursions. Booking through the boat, the excursions where at least double what a lot of the 3rd party stuff went for. The only benefit to booking through the boat is that if you are running late they will hold the boat. For our first cruise experience I'd have to say overall we had a blast and will definitely be doing it again.
We loved our room! While we would have like to have a tub, the shower was large, and the 6 jets were a nice addition. The room was spaced out enough that we didn't feel cramped. The balcony was a bit tight, but we really didn't spend much time out there as you cannot smoke on the balcony and that would really be our only reason to sit out there.
Pretty area, and plenty to see and do right at the port.
Expensive excursions, and really just a tourist trap. The shops where expensive, and the beach wasn't that great. We only stayed off the boat for an hour and a half and we had enough.
