We chose this cruise because it was one of the few with remaining availabilities for our last minute booking, departing out of Barcelona. We were traveling with our parents who enjoy cruising. It's a highly ambitious itinerary, visiting 6 ports within 7 nights. I think this is a great option for active traveler who wants to pack as much as possible into a few days. Full disclosure - I've been to many of the places before and do not feel cruising is the way to explore these cities. You're on the clock each day, arriving at the ports at 7am, with an average of 2 hrs roundtrip travel to get into the city and have to return by 5/6pm. It's not in the least bit leisurely or relaxing. It's like getting a licking of the icing on the cake without ever eating the cake.
Food: Lackluster. We are real foodies and often spend a lot of time researching restaurants prior to our trips. I cried after the first meal in the main dining room - menu looked great until the overcooked tasteless food arrived. The steak was an odd pink color. The waitstaff were great, but we never returned. Windjammer was great with lots of options. Some nights were great while others were meh. We also shelled out for the $75 3 night package - I should have tried the windjammer before doing that. Chops was slightly better than the MDR, and the Mexican restaurant Sabor had great guacamole and margaritas. For the most part, we gorged during lunch and kept dinner light - upside is that I lost 3 pounds on this trip.
Entertainment: nowhere near the quality I've experienced on allure go the seas. We only went to a few as it wasn't worth the effort after long days out at the cities.
Room was old, but clean and comfortable.
We went to our favourite restaurant in Manarola called Trattoria dal Billy. La Spezia is so far from Florence and we didn't think it was worth rushing there for a few hours. So we just took the train to Cinque Terre which was closer. It's a 15 min walk to the La Spezia train station. For first time visitors, I would suggest getting the train to the first town and then taking the ferry to see the CT coastline.
This is one of my favourite cities in Spain. Full of amazing architecture and food!
