Voyager of the Seas - Singapore to Perth repositioning (October 2017)

We thought that major brands like airlines, hotels, restaurants and even cruise lines had a level of quality that was applied to all facilities until we took this cruise with RCCL. Our past experiences with RCCL (we are Diamond level) have provided a sense that there is a minimum level of expectations for their cruise ships including the dining rooms, activities on board and the quality of the facilities. What a mistake in thinking we made as the Voyager crew did not seem to have the RCCL level of quality in their minds. The Voyager is an older ship with many “creaks and squeaks”, visible rust on many of the room balconies and sides of the ship along with other problems associated with older ships, e.g. elevators that don’t work and need repair basically every day.

The captain of the Voyager, Captain Sindre, was as good of a captain as you will find on any cruise ship. He was extremely conscious of the passenger safety and was very good at keeping everyone informed throughout the voyage. Mr. Eric Araya was exceptional as the customer service officer as he was overwhelmed with issues and the cruise director Jamie was always in high energy mode. However, that is were the positives for this crew end.
