Just returned from a weeks cruise on the century. Its very disappointing both the ship and the service. The boat lacks the 'wow' factor of modern ships and the cabins are really small. I went concierge class and you have to squeeze round the bottom of the bed (which has been cut off at the corners so your feet dangle over). The main restaurant food is really bland, they had some nice steak one night but destroyed it by broiling it. The Murano food is better but the chief has been allowed to indulge in his creativity too much and has produced some dishes that just don't work eg delicate scallops in soggy puff pastry. The islands buffet was a shambles with food being cooked while you wait, hence massive queues so if your partner wants something different you end up both waiting or eating separately. Ports were good with two exceptions, Genoa was put in as a swap for Portafino and it is a real dump, not worth getting off the boat for. Livarno port was 5 mins from the town but Celebrity charged $12 each for a shuttle which you had no option to pay as they would not let you walk off the boat. A free shuttle has always been supplied in the similar situations. Entertainment was usual cruise standard ie west end chorus line doing their best. My real whine comes from an incident and how it was handled. On embarkation I purchased the sommelier wine package which I was told could be used in all bars and restaurants and would save me money. First night no probs in the main restaurant. Second night in the Maurano I tried to choose 3 different bottles from the list but none were available so I had to buy a $60 bottle and not use the package. Second night I tried casual dining and again was told they had none of the package wines. I now complain to guest relations who send Alex the head wine waiter who promises it will all be sorted but I opt for a refund on the package. The next day I ask for a glass on white wine in the islands (about 8 on the list) and I'm told they only have one. I again go to customer relations and ask to speak to a manager. They then send someone over who tells me he is a manager but turns out to be an asst in the bar! (I never did get to see a guest relations manager despite repeatedly asking - I guess they don't like customers). I finally get to see the Bar Manager Dilip after several promises of them coming to see me but then getting pulled off to more important duties. It now becomes clear what's been happening. The Murano waiters get 3.5% commission off all bottles they sell. The wine for the Islands is mainly stored in the main dining room so the Islands waiters would have to go down 5 decks to get the wine and they can't be bothered. So easy for Celebrity but frustrating for the customer. On return I emailed Celebrity to complain and despite a promised 48hr response I have yet to hear from them.

Cabin Review

I went concierge class, the cabin needs new carpets and furnishings, the cabin was very small having to squeeze past the bottom of the bed. The bed was firm but with cut off corners your feet dangle off the bottom
