My husband and I have been cruising for the last 40 years. We have been on approximately 60 cruises during that time. We are Platinum members on NCL, closing in on Platinum-Plus. Since we started going on NCL, we have thoroughly enjoyed the ships because of the perks and especially the specialty dining option. This was our second time on the Breakaway and there was something very wrong with this cruise. The staff was disorganized, the service was poor and an overall feeling of mismanagement. The entertainment was lacking in quality as well as options. Whenever there was something worthwhile to watch, it was held in the atrium area which is small and crowded. Never enough seats. How many years are they going to continue to run "Rock of Ages"? It was playing 3 years ago and is still playing. We walked out of the second rate show the first year. The casino is very small for the size and number of people on the ship. If you are allergic to smoke, stay away. The highlight of our cruise was the specialty restaurants. We love them all except we had service issues in La Cucina this time. The main dining rooms were adequate but not wonderful. We normally stay in the Haven but we decided to try a mini-suite this time. It was O.K. but the cabin was not in the best of shape. The rug was dirty, stained and ill fitting. The couch was also stained. Hardest mattress we have ever slept on. I know all I have done is complain, but there weren't many aspects of the cruise that I can rave about this time. We had a two week cruise booked on the Breakaway in February which we cancelled as soon as we got home. I suppose that says it all.

Cabin Review

Family Mini-Suite with Balcony

The cabin was O.K. but as stated before, it needs to be refurbished. The rugs are stained, dirty and ill fitting. The couch is also stained. Our toilet didn't work the first day, but that was fixed quickly. Only good words about our room steward.
