The start point has to be the change in itinerary as it hugely impacted the trip. Hurricane Irma took St Maarten and San Juan off the agenda, sadly NCL plumped on Bermuda as the route change. There was nothing wrong with Bermuda, on fact it was a lovely island to visit but it had such a dramatic change of the weather conditions of the trip as to be in our opinion a completely unsuitable alternative.

Everyone booking a ship out of Copenhagen knows the weather is likely to be poor, we were however reconciled that on leaving the Azores we would travel due South into the warm Caribbean to spend at least 5-6 days in the sun, perhaps more. Sadly on leaving the Azores the ship headed due East and sauntered across the choppy North Atlantic to Bermuda. 4 days in the sun were replaced by 4 days travelling at 2/3rds speed under grey skies. In order opinion NCL had plenty of options in the Caribbean to ensure the crossing was as close to the intended and purchased itinerary as possible. They saved a considerable amount on fuel by reducing the distance travelled substantially and in doing so denied the North Europeans who made up a large proportion of the guests their trip to the Caribbean.

As for the trip itself, our company couldn’t have been better, the cabin (midship Balcony) was excellent, food on the ship best we’ve had from NCL in a good while and drinks well prepared to suit a European palette (non of that pure alcohol US nonsense).

Cabin B3

Lovely cabin, perfect for 2 on a TA crossing.

Port Reviews

Ponta Delgada

Been before, just took a stroll on this occasion. Back soon and plan to take a rental car.

King's Wharf

Bermuda is a good place to visit. We used ferries and buses to get around, very easy and most enjoyable
