Having previously traveled on Celebrity and Royal I wasn't sure what to expect. I really like the small ship feel and the personal interaction with the staff and crew. Entertainment was adequate since this was a port intensive itinerary it was often hard to stay awake. Cruise Director Eric was the best part and worth staying up for. The suite included dining in specialty restaurants and I dined twice in each. The menu never changes.Still trying to figure out how a butler is different than a cabin steward. I would go again on Azamara based on the ports of call, but would not want too many sea days. One every 3-4 days of touring is enough to rest up. The late nights in port were the best part. It was much less crowded as the other ships left and night time walking tours were my favorite. We got to sample food and meet the people in a more relaxed environment

Cabin Review

Club Continent Suite
Cabin N2 8066

Very nice room with lovely bathroom. This room has a large shower. It seems half the suites have tubs and half have showers. The tub rooms also have the fold out chair for a third person and were more expensive. My one complaint is that the large armchair was not very comfortable for a short person and with 3 chairs in front of the slider it was difficult to get around and open to get on the balcony.

Port & Shore Excursion Reviews

Athens (Piraeus)

spend a day or two before the cruise to see the Acropolis. I enjoyed the hop on hop off bus

Took the tour to Mycenae. Read Homer before you go

Culinary Tour

walking through town on beautiful evening sampling food at 4 different locations. Went to beach by taxi in the morning.

Rhodes Old Town

Would have liked more time walking

Jerusalem (Ashdod)

Getting in and out of port was difficult and Jerusalem was very crowded

Haifa (Tel Aviv)

Loved the beach, but the taxi driver at the port was a bit creepy. The person at information gave me no clue as to what an average charge was, but I think 60 euros for a round trip was a bit high

Oia Wine Tasting

Wished we were there longer and I think I might do independent next time. Enjoyed Oia and Fira, wine was unneccessary
