NCL stresses their 'Anytime Dining" but the actual implementation needs further improvement. The hostesses at the restaurants seemed unable to put diners together for effective table utilization. The computers they were using did not have the software to support efficient table utilization or the hostesses did not know how to use the software. The end result was long waits to dine while tables sat empty or had empty seats. Also, there were long waits for meals at peak times. One breakfast took two hours to get our food. That being said, the menu was fine and the food was good.

The other annoying problem on board was the noise level and volume of the music. NCL does not seem to know that average music when played loudly does not become better music. Some of the venues were so loud that I wondered if those listening were having their hearing damaged. NCL needs to have acoustic engineers review Getaway's speaker systems and volume levels in the public rooms,,

Port Reviews

Copenhagen

A great city, lots of attractions, good public transportation. Restaurant food is expensive.

Ponta Delgada

Our third time to this port, but first time with clear skies. We took a Yellow Bus tour to Crater Lake, 14 euros, and enjoyed it.

King's Wharf

NCL provided a free ferry to St. Georges. We visited Crystal Cave, which was well worth the $22 cost. The second day we visited the Botanical Garden just outside Hamilton. Perhaps it was the time of year, but I cannot recommend the garden to others.
