This cruise was on my husband's Bucket List. Retired, we have been traveling across the United States for many months when we noticed this cruise. Since we didn't have to pay for airfare, we decided to mark another item off the Bucket List.
We took the train from Upstate New York the day before and arrived at Grand Central around 1pm. Spent some time at 911 Memorial and took in a show. Wandered around Times Square till late before heading back to our Hotel. Hampton Inn in Times Sq was a good location. Breakfast was good, but not much room to sit.
Embarkation: We took Uber from our hotel in Manhattan. The lines were horribly long in the terminal. Not being able to stand for periods at a time, we went through the handicap line. It was too long!!!
Normally we like an Ocean View, Mid Ship, on the lowest deck. Nothing was available, so we ended up with an inside cabin on deck 9. Thank goodness I asked for a room for 4, as our last one for 2 was very crowded. Not a whole lot of room inside cabin, but we managed. Bathroom was fine, especially with a full size shower. Closet space was enough, but I don't see how it would accommodate a family of 4. Our room Stewart, Mike, was wonderful. He knew our names as soon as we arrived. Chatted with us numerous times throughout the cruise. I requested to have the duvet removed and bring blankets instead with no problems. Only real complaint was being on the 9th deck.
