DH and I have sailed on the Cloud, Wind, Shadow and Whisper and were anxious to experience the Muse. Being an avid Cruise Critic reader , I was aware of the bizarre dining reservation policy and also the new dress code policy particular to the Muse. I was able to successfully make the dinner reservations 120 days out of our departure and all were honored. Many passengers were not that lucky. However, I commend SilverSea for recognizing their customer's complaints and trying to improve the experience by altering both inefficient policies. Unfortunately, our cruise did not benefit from these changes. Midway into the cruise, Atlantide was closed for three days for remodeling. Seemed unfair that our cruise had to put up with the closure to make improvements for the next cruise.
Several reviews have commented on issues that I agree with- Cold food, monotonous menus, TV noise from neighboring cabins, no morning coffee outside of restaurants, no afternoon Tea, and port cancellations to name a few. All of these problems diminish the "luxury" aspect of the cruise.
On the plus side, the Ship is beautiful. Subdued, but classy. Trivia was terrific! Fellow passengers were delightful and the Staff worked hard to please. Unlimited free laundry is the Best!! We only took two excursions.. One was a trip to Peggy's Cove in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Basically an $89 bus ride. The second was a wonderful all day tour to Williamsburg, Va.
Decor was nice. Muted, calm colors.. The TVs in the mirrors did not work for us . the picture was not clear and the sound and picture were never in sync. Many times we could hear the neighbor's TV as well as our own. Shower was a little bit small. Would have preferred a second sink rather than the unused tube. The Veranda was small, but the deck furniture was nice. Also felt that the closet space was small. Sufficient, but small.
Excellent day spent on Ellis Island. We traveled there on our own.
Pleasant port. Did some shopping in area close to pier.
