We had never been to Canada. We live in Florida so this longer cruise was perfect, we only had to fly one way. We love to travel on Holland America Lines, so the fact that Zuiderdam was due for an interior face lift did not bother us. We know and love their standards, so could put up with a few chips and rips.
The Crew was wonderful, always helpful & Roxan in the Ocean Bar is the Best Waiter on board.
the Food was a little odd by the second week. (an awful lot of fish, for someone who does not eat fin fish.) The food we ordered was good & we could order a baked potato if the sides did not appeal.
I must say that the entertainment on board was a little disappointing, where did all the small bands and other singers & guitar players, that used to be in the small bars, Crows Nest, Atrium & Dining Room go? We miss being able to order afternoon drinks & listen to a Duo or single musician entertain us. The music seems to be at night & if that band is needed for the main show, nothing!!!
Cabin was ready for us & spotlessly clean. We asked for nightly ice in bucket & it was always delivered.
Cabin needs more drawer, I had to use the shoe shine basket to coral small items that I had no drawers for & empty the side cabinet too.
Location was good.
We were picked up at our Hotel. We had flown into Quebec the evening before and wanting a overview of the city. Unfortunately it was raining on & off that Sunday but our driver and guide made the best of it. There were great stories of the City's history & lots of interesting stories about the people to had made this city their home over the centuries. The Fall Leaves & Gardens were beautiful.View All 56 City Tour Reviews
We met Ben at the Cruise Terminal. We were a group of six adults. He asked of there were any Points of Interest that we really wanted to see, so he could plan out day. After discussing our wants Ben, drove to the many beautiful sites on this lovely island. We were discussing "Lobster Rolls" that several of us wanted to try, so Ben suggested great small local place "Blue Mussel Cafe" they serve some of the freshest local food in the area.
After we had stuffed ourselves we drove on to Green Gables, this was a must see spot for several of the people we were with.
After a wonderful day of sightseeing Ben delivered safely back to out ship.View All undefined undefined Reviews
It was a cold and windy day in Port so we walked down to the Terminal. They have a great selection of local artists. I found a Ammolite Pendant less than a third of what you would pay in the states. (Ammolite is only found in Canada) We also purchased Maple Sugar Candy for the Grandchildren. Took the mandatory photo of the Giant Fiddle on the dock and walked back to the ship.
We walked to the "Immigration Museum" a few piers over from where we had docked.
This is a very well done History of the Peoples who emigrated to Canada. They have a research area where they specialists help you search for your ancestors (Fee).
There are tours of the displays with knowledgeable guides. Movies , and lots of history!
After the museum, we walked through the many little shops in the pier building.
Great Tour, amazing guide & driver. This a wonderful way to see the park when off of a cruise ship. Beautiful scenery and a lovely island.

So cold and windy we stayed on board
This was the one tour we booked with cruise line. Because of time limits and need to be back to ship on time we felt this was the safe way to go.
I love American History & to stand where our ancestors fought was amazing!View All 22 Lexington and Concord Reviews
To be honest living in Florida we used this as another sea day, relaxed and packed.
But you have never been to the Kennedy Space Center, it is a must see.
