We chose this cruise to see the fall colors. We have cruised over 40 times, mostly with Princess and several times on the Crown. We had a balcony on Caribe, very spacious, but somewhat dated decor. We arrived in NY several days in advance and stayed near Times Square, saw some family and went to a show. Lots to see and do in NYC. Took uber to the Ferry on Wall St to get to Red Hook, very easy to do.
Embarkation was very fast and easy as sailaway wasn't until 7pm. Our luggage arrived fairly quickly, we went to the library to get books, very good selection. We ate in the Dining Room every night but one. We had anytime and it was hit or miss as to seating times. Food wasn't bad but service was uneven. Breakfast buffet stayed the same the whole week. Seating in the buffet was challenging.
We had some gray and windy weather especially at night, the decks had to be closed. Weather got increasingly cold as we sailed north. We missed our stop in Newport and activities on the ship were practically nonexistent. Boston we went to the Kennedy library, Quincy market and Beacon Hill. Bar Harbor we took the trolley into Acadia park. Leaves turning somewhat yellow there. In St John we did the walking tour on our own, the info desk in town was very helpful. Halifax we took a winery tour booked privately, a enjoyable day. Sydney we did the ship's excursion to the Bell museum, very colorful there. Charlottetown we walked around, very quiet place we toured Beaconsfield House. Quebec we did a walking tour through the tourist info which was very good. The next day we checked into the Chateau Frontenac and went to Ile D'Orleans booked privately. Expect cold weather bring good shoes, gloves, hat and scarves.
Good cabin near the elevators, very quiet, good shower and comfortable bed. Large balcony
