2017 is our 30th wedding anniversary, so we had our eyes open for something special to celebrate. Top of the list was a Mediterranean Cruise, having cruised on the Celebrity Solstice for our 25th. That is when a timely offer came via email and we immediately said yes, even though it was on NCL, which we had not sailed before. (Two Celebrity, two Princess, one RCI and one Carnival.). It was also by far the oldest ship we had sailed, and the smallest. Reviews were mixed, but the itinerary was excellent. The booking also included the beverage package , and four specialty dining reservations. All in all we signed up with limited expectations. The ship well exceeded these expectations.
We stayed the night before the cruise at a Civitavechia
Hotel, leaving less than five minutes to walk to the free shuttle bus to the ship the next morning. Embarkation was painless, smoothly handled and we were on board and in our stateroom before noon.
Smaller than average - but comfortable. Storage space is adequate for two people. Bed was quite comfortable. The balcony is smaller than most with no room for even a small lounger. The bathroom is fine overall with a larger shower than some but the door separating the toilet area is just plain dumb. It should be removed in the next refit.
We were port side aft, but engine noise was not an issue. Walls are rather thin, so a noisy neighbour will be quite noticeable.
