Let's start with the boat. Elegant and tasteful with contemporary artwork throughout, I found nothing lacking in design and certainly, not the "glitzy" look! We did end up getting a suite (penthouse, I believe) so I do have a jaded view in that regard! The room was lovely, with a walk in closet, plenty of storage both there and in the bedroom and the bath as well. With the suite came our own butler and room service maid. The butler was the best! He got us in for reservations when we needed at the restaurants, got our laundry done, when we had not submitted in the required time frame, had a jacket which could have been ruined, cleaned perfectly and came every morning with our coffee in bed! The ship had some great restaurants but when I had two entrees that were not good, I quickly learned that you can reorder and get something that you enjoy! The ports were almost all divine (not sure why they go to Sete, France--truly unmemorable). We found something we loved about each. And lastly, we took two excursions and both were good, the one in Rome was the better of the two. That was a farmhouse with a cooking lesson and lunch. AWESOME! Only negative was slow internet.

Port Reviews

Portofino

Portofino is beautiful and you can wander on your own without planning. You can dine or shop or look at signts or go to the beach by foot.

Florence (Livorno)

Took a train to Florence then bought a map and walked. We have been to Florence before so it felt very familiar. A great city for arts, museums and shopping. Don't miss it!

Villefranche

Went to Nice on our own. Loved the city. Had a lovely day.

Marseille

We were here on a Sunday and most everything was closed. Took a train to Chateauneuf du Pape. What a disaster! The train stops at Sorgues/Chateauneuf du Pape but after walking one half hour, we learned that the town was over 45 minutes away by car! So sad that we wasted a day. Ended up taking all day to NOT get wine! UGH!

Sete

Small and boring. Not sure why we stopped here. I would rather have stayed in Nice or spent an extra day in Spain!

Palma de Mallorca (Majorca)

Loved it here. Great little island city. Vibrant and enjoyable. Arts and shopping. A playground for the rich!
