We had an amazing experience with our first Celebrity Cruise on the Equinox, last July in Europe and expecting the same or more, booked the Silhouette Western Mediterranean cruise.
From the get go, I had bad feeling, when after embarking, we went to Ocean view for a bite, and had to wait for 1/2 hour for the waitress that took our cards to get soft drinks. we finished our food, waited, waited and finally asked someone for the cards so we could leave. Lots of explanations and excuses, but no drinks and/or cards.
Our previous experience with the Equinox, we felt a vibrant atmosphere, high energy from everyone working on the ship, and this time it felt that most of the crew were either tired, bored or not interested at all. Dont get me wrong, they were (for most of the times) very efficient and professional, but not interactive as in the previous ship we were on. So, I do not know if it was the fact that it seemed as the average age of the guest was probably in the 70's..or it is the end of the season for most of the crew and they don't care more...or maybe our Equinox amazing experience was a fluke...
Probably the best port in the cruise. If you can, climb the Mediterranean Steps to the top of the rock..walk to the other end and walk down into town.
No matter what they tell you on board, there is a free shuttle service inthe port, close by the ship. Charging $20/person is absurd!
