We were looking forward to having a romantic anniversary cruise so, instead of booking a regular "balcony" cabin, we booked into what was advertised on Carnival's website and video advertising is misleading. There was no "spacious balcony". The deck plan showed the cabin to be on the outside of the ship with no obstructions, but this, too was misleading. When we arrived the suite we found a very different cabin. The balcony was recessed looking over an open passenger deck below. Inflatable lifeboat containers and their hoists were in front of us on the balcony below and the hoists extended to our deck and balcony. Looking out to sea we viewed hoists with passengers walking and talking below us. The advertised "spacious balcony" was, in fact, smaller than any regular "balcony" cabin on a Carnival. When you opened the cabin door you had to climb over one chair and table to access the second chair. There was no space between the chairs, table or railings. To sit on the balcony you had to either turn the chairs sideways or place your legs through one of the railings where they dangled onto the deck below. Our complaint received a response from the Carnival booking agent, Guest Services staff and the Cabin Steward that we had actually booked a "Demi Suite". As there is no description for "Demi Suites" on the Carnival Sensation, we waited 2 days into the cruise until Head Office responded that this was a suite and offered no compensatio;n. I took photographs of the balcony, its size and its location, but the photographs and complaints to the Better Business Bureau revealed that Carnival is not a BBB member and responded that their advertising was "not misleading". I have taken photographs of the balcony, its

Cabin Review

Cabin V-18
V-18 is NOT a suite and has a partially obstructed view and is NOT on the outside of the ship - the deck below is open and the cabin recessed.

The balcony is smaller than any balcony cabin on other ships and has no room to sit.

The balcony is VERY DANGEROUS for elderly people or those who cannot climb over chairs and tables - or place their legs through the railings.
