We've been considering a cruise for years and this destination was the one most convenient and appealing. Our experiences may be colored by our inexperience.
We enjoyed the ship, the staff and all but one of the shore excursions. We found out later that this was the first time NCL stopped at Rockland, ME. The tour was billed as a great opportunity to take pictures of the harbor from the mountain. We did a drive thru! We were not allowed off the bus but then spent an hour and 20 minutes in the quaint little town at the base of the mountain. Then, our lobster dinner was in a large room with no windows. The other excursions were terrific. The resort was lovely and there must have been a room with a better view! We could see our ship from the grounds.
The shows onboard were quality but in most cases way too loud. We wore ear protection nearly the entire time in the theater. The production staff shows were the loudest, nearly painful.
This tour was not good. We did the highlights of Maine coast and lobster lunch. It was billed as a photo op of the harbor from the mountain. We did a drive thru, not allowed off the bus but spent an hour and twenty minutes in Camden, a quaint but not exciting town. Since we were going to have a lobster dinner, lunch was not an option for the stop. The lobster lunch was ok but in a large banquet room with no windows.
