Once we decided on the Mediterranean, this itinerary and ship worked well for us. Although I wasn't excited about sailing on such a large ship I knew it would offer more variety of on-board activities, entertainment, shops, eateries and deck areas. The ship was very nice but we both missed the motion of a smaller ship such as Island Princess. It was intimidating for me to try and find my way around. However, we were never really aware of the number of passengers, because the size of the vessel accommodated the population well.
We reserved four excursions prior to sailing, and they were good. We enjoyed the spa a number of times.
The Allegro dining room was great. The staff were very attentive and personable. The food was served piping hot, and there was a good variety of menu choices. We usually went to Horizon Court and Horizon Bistro for breakfast and lunch, and they were so-so. Sometimes it was hard to find a table, and the entire staff seemed slow and disinterested. The buffet food was not warm enough and clearly had been sitting out too long. Room service was very nice, and punctual.

After leaving the ship we spent a few days in an apartment right near Vatican City. We enjoyed lots of walking, and took two excellent pre-arranged tours with "What A Life" tours.
