We have cruised on Princess, Carnival, Royal Caribbean and NCL and we always come back to Princess.
We got to NYC three days prior to the cruise and stayed near Times Square. We saw some Broadway shows, went to Central Park and the M.E.T. and Little Italy. It's NYC - there is plenty to do there!
We got a Lyft (about $40) from the hotel to the cruise port - it took about 40 minutes.

Excellent - plenty of space. Great balcony view coming and going from port (odd side of the ship gives great views of the statue of liberty, freedom tower and the NYC skyline. the bridges are also so cool on the cruise out!
Our cabin steward, Danny, was awesome!
