Brilliance of the Seas Review

Historic Mediterranean excursions and entertainment exceptional. Cost-cuts hurt.

My brother badly needed a vacation. He chose the cruise line and excellent itinerary.

Concerns: Compared with their CELEBRITY Line ships (Reflection/Summit/Equinox), small things like no cabin toiletries (shampoo dispenser & mini soaps however); tracking use of pool towels with SeaPass ($25 if not logged in for a return), and limited hours on some of the food venues were disappointments with RCCI. Also it seemed as though the "perks" we enjoy on Celeb and Holland American did not exist here. Also service at the pools was more limited, with fewer assigned employees. --Even specialty restaurants had many same items as main dining room, and charged extra for lobster and other items above & beyond extra fees!

Pluses: SERVICE FOR THE CABIN, BARS AND MINISTREL DINING ROOM was exceptional. Shawn and Arturo were memorable! THE HELIPORT was always available on our strolls (unlike other ships where as VIPs we got access for sail-away receptions on the heliports). The mini-movie theater is a nice discovery--better than the jumbotron theater screen for movies around the pool in the evenings. SPECIAL SOUPS AND STEWS in huge hollow bread bowls in the King and Crown Bar are a great find (as was the $5 beer special and 2 for 1 marguerite specials in Rita's section of the cafeteria made nice discoveries friends had not found until alerted. SUM: A good time; unusual entertainment and cruise director & assistant with limitless energy & enthusiasm.
