This was our 25th cruise, first with Princess. We did not explore our departure city before hand since we live here. Called a Car Service to bring us. We arrived at pier and checked in. The check in went smoothly. Once on board we dropped our carry on luggage off at our stateroom and went to the Lido Deck which was the wrong choice. Much of the food there was not so good. Found Swirls, the ice cream bar, and had soft serve ice cream. Then we walked around the ship to find out where everything was, this was our first time on Princess Cruises. Found the casino, the theater, the stores, other places to eat. After the safety drill we discovered they brought our luggage to our stateroom and made our way down to the Allegro Dining Room. The cruise line gave us good people sitting at tables next to us. Sometimes, that does not happen. Our table was easy to get to which is great for my wife. The wait staff was very good and the management for the dining room, Head Waiter, Maitre 'D was also very good. The b est kept secret on the ship was Alfredo's. We had no trouble getting a table and eating the delicious food they served there. The Gelato place was good too. The service at both places was excellent. On our anniversary night we ate dinner at the Grill. It was very good also. They had a cake and served it to us.
Entertainment was good. My wife likes the production shows while some of the best sleep for me was during these shows. I liked the comics and piano player they had who wanted to be called Uncle John.
Liked playing in the casino every night and met some good people there. Still in contact with some of them. The casino staff was good although not all of them had much experience. They were good dealers and if they made an incorrect or failed to make the payout they knew in short order. Good job Boxmen.
Our stateroom had a nice size with room for my wife's walker to be out of the way when not in use. Plenty of room for storage. Bed was nice with good size. Bathroom too small, My wife barely had room to turn around in the bathroom. Balcony too small. We discovered if you ask for something from the room steward unless you put it in writing you will not get it.
Room service, was prompt and correct.
We met an old friend of mine from high school. Went to stores and coffee shop.
Went to the Quincy Market. It was crowded. Purchased some items from store. On way back to ship had nice discussion with folks from another ship that was in port.
Went shopping at stores and walked around. It did my wife a lot of good. The people that worked on the tender were very good at assisting my wife.
Walked to the old marketplace. Made a purchase from Java Moose. Went to Beaver Tails vendor. It was good.
