We booked this trip for our honeymoon, and were accompanied by another two couples. We chose this ship because it was brand new. We had cruised before with Thompson and Royal Caribbean. First off, we had to wait at the airport for our transfer to the ship for just under an hour, the rep did not seem bothered that we were frustrated at their lack of presence. We were then taken to the port and herded into the waiting area. We could not register our card of use until we got on board. We were very pleasantly surprised with the decor and the cabins were spacious and well laid out, We paid extra for a balcony which was worth the expense. The package we chose was all inclusive although it did have a lot of exclusions. The astrix played a big part in our cruise. When you looked at a drinks menu, anything that had an astrix was not included in the deal. The ice cream parlour had a charge, the buffet was NOT open 20 hours a day, If you were hungry after 10pm you had no chance. There was no shop on board where you could purchase forgotten items, You could not buy duty free cigarettes or alcohol. The perfumes were well overpriced. The buffet named the Marketplace lived up to its name, Geared to the Italian market the place was so disorganized, You could easily have been trampled to death, an in and out system could have solved all the problems, with so many suits walking round a blind man on a galloping horse could have sorted this out. The waiting staff were very nice but a lot of pressure put on them by overbearing Italians. Now to the food, what can i say, i love my grub, breakfast the usual scrambled, boiled, fried, poached eggs. Bacon streaky and swimming in oil, sausage chippolatas , hash browns, beans. Ham,cheese, salami, watery oats, semolina. Loads of bread and the usual pastries, fresh fruit and yogurt, juices only available at breakfast, they turned the machines off at lunch time.Tea and coffee only available at meal times. These machines were also turned off. There were a lot of pizza, and pasta dishes, Spuds were nearly nonexistant, loads of salad items and the odd thing was they had a hot roast of some sort at lunch time but not at dinner, one good thing though i lost some weight lol. The entertainment was ok, we had to pay for the cirque du Soleil show, ten pin bowling, air hockey table, racing cars, parents must have been out a fortune. Only we checked our bill early in the week we would have been paying a 15% service charge on transactions and donations to Unicef .Be WARNED, read all the small print. Entertainment staff and housekeeping were fabulous, Take you own hairdryer theirs is rubbish, sorry for all the negative feed back but it had to be said. Sorry I wont be back MSC.
