Recommended by travel agent. Right sized ship - luxurious, excellent cuisine options, well trained, personable, from the cruise director to the dining staff and cabin stewards. We also enjoyed the shows, which were most entertaining. Generally, very impressed with Oceania.

Critical comments:(1) very few educational lectures, and some were merely designed to sell product (orthotics); (2) ports of call - could have eliminated Alicante and Sete, neither of which provide much interest and are similar to other ports of call, and substitute 1 day at sea and 1 port in Western Italy (Genoa, Rapallo?); (3) the cruise-sponsored "limited group" tours are extremely expensive and provide little value, when compared to small group or Viator and other private tour companies; a busload tour, even if included as part of a package, gives very little information due to the large number of attendees. Some tours involved traveling 2 hours for a 1 1/2 hour "explore on your own" before returning to the ship; that is a wasted tour. Finally, I object to having to choose between (i) 3 (large group) excursions, (ii) a drink package, or (iii) a purchase credit; we are either non- or social drinkers, do not make expensive purchases on-board, and find the large group ship sponsored tours to have little value. For the money, I would have preferred an upgrade to larger stateroom or reduced booking fare.

Cabin Review

Concierge Level

Bed very comfortable. More than enough drawers and cabinets. Biggest complaint is closet. Right up against bed leaves very little room for access. Closet is much too small for hanging clothing for 2, especially since suitcases also need to be stored in closet (no special storage for luggage). Bathroom well planned with separate tub and shower, but vanity space much too small. Corner cabinets on either side of mirror are poorly laid out. Sofa and seating area very comfortable. Cabin steward was excellent, very pleasant and helpful (Sherman).

Port Reviews

Alicante

On our own, was wasted day. Took hop on-hop-off bus, that was infrequent and slow, at castle overlooking town there was a mob to get on bus and no room. We skipped the castle and got off bus in town. Map guide handed out on ship was confusing and dated - restaurants had either closed or changed their offering to pizza and burgers, and streets were misnamed on map. Other than the attractive pedestrian walk and overpriced craft stalls, it was just another port city.

Valencia

very good walking tour and extremely interesting description of cultural center and a great tour of the oceanagrafic institute with the guide

Sete

Other than a pleasant walk through the town, window shopping, etc.,not much to offer unless we had booked an expensive tour to some remote area.
