We generally cruise Princess but had heard RC was comparable. However, this ship is in dire need of a makeover. The public areas are quite small and they cram you in the main "Centrum" area. We had a large family room (8502) and space was great, but mattress ad furnishings were from the 60s. Incredibly uncomfortable, old and bumpy mattress and chair/sofa were a bit threadbare. There was gum stuck in the carpet from probably 10 years ago. The put the Casino where people smoke right in your path to get to the theater which everyone complained about. It felt like the ship itself should have fewer passengers. No seats were available in the Windjammer, the theater, the Schooner Bar or Centrum on a regular basis. The food in all restaurants except Rita's Cantina was excellent. Avoid the Mexican if you know and like Mexican food. Also beware that if you booked a shore excursions online, without downloading the brochure, there are far more when you board. There are also loads of private tours available at each port. We found Oli's Trolley in Bar Harbor excellent, but the excursions we did book through the ship were very good. Additionally, prices for spa treatments decline as the week goes on so be alert and patient. If you are like we are, we dislike the formal nights and the multitude of photo opps. My hubby just didn't bring a coat or tie and it was fine. Don't miss Peggy's Cove -- Halifax is the best stop!
