I sailed on The Breakaway in 2014 and 2015 and loved the ship and her crew. When my aunt and sister wanted to do a cruise we decided on The Breakaway to Florida and the Bahamas (my previous sailings were to Bermuda). I was disappointed in this cruise, some of the crew and was very upset that this was the first one my family went on.

First complaint: We each had a studio room (which is what I’ve had on my last two trips) that were next to each other. I always wipe down my room when I arrive (for my health and safety) but when we arrived in our rooms they were filthy. There was dust everywhere, I had a straw on my floor, the ice buckets hadn’t been emptied and the closet shelves were caked with dust. Also, my first two trips I had the wooden hangers with a slacks bar…this time in the closet there were wooden hangers, plastic hangers and wire hangers. I took the wire hangers and threw them into the bottom of the closet along with the plastic hangers. My aunt complained to House Keeping and had someone come down on the second day to inspect her room. They did however they never got back to her about their findings or even if they agreed with her. Another disappointment was that we didn’t receive one towel animal during the entire trip. It’s a silly thing, but I look forward to the creativity every trip. We would see our room steward in the corridor and he never spoke to us. Usually the stewards are the nicest folks on the ship…and we were greeted by other stewards, just not our own.

Second complaint: The chair hogs on this trip were out in force!! I understand that it’s something that happens, but NCL had a policy that they would remove items from chairs if they remained unoccupied for more than an hour…I saw a towel clipped to three chairs from 7am to 3pm without any appearance from anyone!!! It’s just upsetting because I get out early and usually find a chair where I want, but for some people arriving at the pool at 9, there’s nothing but a sea of empty but saved chaises!!

Cabin Review

Studio Stateroom

Cabin T1

The studio is a great cabin for a solo but I was disappointed in how dirty it was this cruise.
