After sailing on Oasis, Quantum and Harmony as my most recent six cruises, I wasn't expecting Liberty to be as good as I found it. I found the ship to be overall very nice. One elevator was "temporarily" out of service, but generally things were very good. The activities were good, although we would have enjoyed more "enrichment" lectures (besides just promotional stuff for spas, art auction, shore excursions and such). It would be nice to have more choices for headliner entertainment... e.g. Studio B (ice rink) AND main theatre shows at the same time (so more choice of which to do on which evening). The (great!) aerial shows and "Saturday Night Fever" musicals (great production, but not much in the way of any plot) were only performed one evening each (two shows that evening). The (very nice) ice show in Studio B was performed two evenings (twice per evening) perhaps because one headliner who was expected to perform didn't show up on our sailing. Dining was generally very good in both the main dining room and Windjammer (until the last morning, when curiously they "ran out" of bacon and sausage etc towards the end of the service, already ending early). I would have liked Freestyle soda machines... there wasn't much in the way of diet soda choices (I ended up only getting Diet Dr. Pepper... which was okay, but I would have appreciated more choices.... and WHY do people serve Diet Coke, which isn't nearly as good as (say) Coke Zero?). The pizza crust at Sorrentos was kinda disappointing. I wanted to try Tidal Wave (the boomerang-type water slide), but it was only open one day of our seven-day cruise and so I missed my chance. Generally the service was very good. One curious bizarreness was that we couldn't take our ship-provided soda package cup with us into the Viking Crown lounge nightclub... we had to take it back to the cabin and drop it off there... that requirement was just stupid. I didn't care for most of the music in the nightclub or Bolero's. No accounting for personal taste, I suppose. I didn't do any of the official shore excursions, so can't really comment about those. I was surprised (and delighted) to find complimentary sauna and steamroom off the dressing area of the fitness center (although I didn't manage to find time in our only-7-day sailing to try them).

Cabin Review

Interior Stateroom

Cabin M

The cabin was well-equipped, with lots of drawer space and plenty of little shelves on either side of the over-desk mirror and in the bathroom too. We were in (inside) cabin 8235. One issue was that with the lower beds configured together, it crowded the walk space around the end of one side of the bed (which can be particularly an issue for trips to the bathroom during the night). Our suitcases fit easily under the beds and in the bottom of the closet. The bathroom was nicely trimmed with attractive tiles under the mirror. We had both body wash and bars of nice soap for use in the shower, and both "flood" and "pulsating massage" shower modes. Our cabin steward was excellent.
