We booked this cruise as we wanted to experience slightly more choice than NCL offered on the Jade, having loved the service we received on the Jade.
We were not disappointed - we went to four speciality dining's (Cagney's, La Cucina, Ocean Blue and Teppenyaki) which were all fantastic. We also did the Steam show (fantastic show, so/so food) and Wine Lovers the Musical lunch - great all round both food and show really enjoyable. For main dining rooms our favourite was The Tropicana room by a mile, live music and lovely surroundings, it was a really fun place to eat.
We had an aft balcony which was amazing, our agent told us it had a large balcony but didn't tell us it was because it was adapted, so basically every time there was in in cabin announcement, phone call or door ring the whole cabin would vibrate and lights would flash. This would not have been a problem except we had two false alarms the morning we went to St Petersburg, one at 4.40 am and 5.30 am neither of which you want to get first thing in the morning so the day we had an 11 hour trip we were already up at stupid o'clock. The other problem hit on the day of Helsinki when we arrived back slightly damp to find the door would not open (auto door) and had to run up and down to customer services to sort out.
Gorgeous view, slight soot problem but waking up to that sight every morning made up for it. 11914 is adapted making it very large but obviously we felt really bad when we realised that we had been allocated it and maybe stopped another person being able to cruise :(
Loved Copenhagen, we explored on our last day due to a late flight. We had airluggage pick up 4 bags from right outside the ship for 34 euros and picked them up from the terminal. We then bought a DOT transport card online for 80kr (about £9) and jumped the trains and buses (which are so easy to navigate) unlimited all day and then got the metro to the airport to pick up our bags. What an amazing city, so easy to get around and beautiful views everywhere you look. We took a canal tour from Nysham for 40kr (again this is half the price of the hop on hop off service if you just want to do the tour) which gave us some great photo opportunities and took us back to the little Mermaid if you don't want to walk all the way out the city to find her. Christiana was an eye opener with my mother in tow but good fun and we just loved all the buildings and the friendliness of the city.
Walked in from ship - taxi back for 10 euros. Loved it, the weather was horrid so we kept ducking for cover in various coffee shops and loved the medieval feel of this gorgeous port.
Breathtaking, did a TJ Tour which at 11 hours long was hard going but well worth it. The trip to Peterhoff is worth the addition if you can make it. Make sure you have booked something before you go either independently or on ship as you cant get off without a visa. Expect a 90 min wait regardless of who you book with they are pretty slow! There is so much to see so get a good sleep and invest in the time of your trip it is worth it.
Walked in and admired the beautiful city but after Tallin and St Petersburg it felt a little dull. Worth the walk but maybe we should have taken a tour as we didnt find it that interesting.
We were moved to a port 90 mins outside of Stockholm which was a bit of a pain. We booked the Hop on Hop off from outside the port building (you have to be off early as once the buses are full thats it regardless of pre booking) We managed to get the bus and Abba ticked for 405 Swedish Krona - when we arrived they were charging 50 euros per person without Abba ticket so it is worth pre booking on the morning if you know you can make the bus. Stockholm is so amazing, we did the Abba tour for fun but wished we had more time to explore the Vasa and the areas more as it was amazing. Old Stockholm behind the Palace was definitely the nicest place to eat and drink it was really pretty
