We chose this cruise to visit the Shetland islands and Canada as well as using is as comfortable travel from Europe to the US. The ports were really enjoyable.

It was really was great that the ship offered bridge lessons and duplicate bridge on sea days. The instructor/director was great! The down-side of the bridge was that most days it was done in the Jasmine where we were bombarded by noise from hawkers and trivia games. The venue was poorly selected and disappointing as the Bistro would have been a good location and was not in use. An alternative would have been La Cucina.

On the whole, the entertainment was marginal. The presenter for the sea days was very poor ... she could have put anyone to sleep. The "trivia" games seemed to be limited to music trivia ... BORING AND NOT INTELLECTUALLY STIMULATING. One sea day a "highlight" identified in the daily newsletter was "bean bag toss"...you have got to be kidding!!!! A new cruise director is needed. The evening entertainment had some good and some poor acts.

Small as was expected but well laid out and comfortable. The room steward kept it super-tidy and seemed to be there to freshen it up whenever we left the room.

Port Reviews

Southampton

Nice town to visit. we had 2 days and wish we had dad a couple of more. we did a walking tour offered by the tourist bureau and it was great! The leader was Morris and he shared his knowledge and love for the area. We did gish and chips at a super friendly pub - the Duke of Ellington. If I lived there it would be my local hangout. We also dined at the BayLeaf Indian restaurant - a truly lucky find as it was one of our best INDIAN MEALS EVER! The food and the service were OUTSTANDING... blew away a very highly rated Indian restaurant we dined in while we were in London.

Lerwick (Shetland Islands)

An interesting little town. we did not expect a lot but we enjoyed taking a comfortable walk around the harbor.

Reykjavik

An enjoyable day for our return visit. We just walked the town and did some fun shopping/

St. John's (Newfoundland)

A small friendly place with a nice harbor for shopping.

Portland (Maine)

a nice harbor area with nice shopping.
