I really expected more from the Magic as it was one of the larger Carnival ships. However it did not measure up to some of the other Carnival ships. The ship overall seemed to be not as well maintained. THe railings on the rear of Deck 10 were full of soot from the smokestack. If you leaned against them, you got extremely dirty. It seems like the dining room staff has been reduced and although they were all extremely busy, food service was slow just because they had so many folks to serve. The so-called dining room entertainment needs to be eliminated. They did their song and dance routines before dessert was served, which often resulted in the dessert being cold or ice cream being melted. It also caused us to miss the beginning of the evening movie and sometimes the show because of this silly "entertainment". The other complaint concerns the smoking areas. Carnival prohibits smoking on the balconies for good reason. Smoke can drift up to the balconies above. However this ship has a very nice Promenade deck 5 with chairs and tables on it. Guess what. Smoking is allowed on this deck and the smoke drifts up to the balconies on the decks above it. Crazy!

Cabin Review

Balcony

Cabin 8B

Normal size for a balcony on Carnival. Not as much shelf room as other Carnival ships, but lots of closet room. They should have eliminated one of the closets and put in shelves.
