I chose this cruise because I have always wanted to go to Norway and to Barcelona so this turned out to be a cruise where I could do both. I also love England and was excited about going to two ports where I have never been before. I was especially excited about going to Falmouth (this was the most important port for me), which was unfortunately cancelled due to weather. The ship was beautiful -- loved all the places to sit and relax and loved having game tables where we could gather with friends. The staff was wonderful. The entertainment was great, as were some of the lectures. The food was very good with the exception of desserts which, for the most part, were somewhat tasteless. The ship needs to get the cookie recipe from the river cruise--cookies were far superior. There was also too much salt in much of the food --- remember your clientele is mostly seniors, many of whom have high blood pressure.

However, I felt the ports were a big disappointment and some of the tours were not as good as the tours we had last year on the Grand European River Cruise. We had also booked a pre and post extensions in Oslo and Barcelona, both of which were certainly not as excellent as our pre-extension last year in Amsterdam and poor value for the money. Overall, I would give the ship a 5-star rating but the ports, tours, extensions, etc. would only be a 3 or 4-star rating.

Cabin Review

Cabin Deluxe Veranda

The cabin was very nice. It could, however, use more drawer space and more hangers. We had a very difficult time putting all our clothing away. The desk could use an armless chair because getting in and out under the desk is more difficult with a chair that has arms. With an armless chair, one can slide in and out under the desk without pulling the chair out all the way. The bathroom was the best ever. Loved having drawers in there and the shower was wonderful. The housekeeping crew did a great job of taking care of the cabin and bathroom.

Port Reviews

Cartagena (Spain)

Took the included tour which is not listed. However, we had an excellent guide and an interesting drive out to a light house by the inland sea and the old mines. Cartagena is a beautiful city and my favorite city that we visited in Spain. We were amazed at the remains of the Roman Theater. The city is clean and is easily accessible to the port.
