  3. Carnival Valor
This was our very first cruise, so our nerves were high with excitement. The boarding process was relativity easy. We decided to get the indoor parking which shuttled us to the dock. The shuttle drivers and porters were very courteous and helpful. Upon boarding the ship everything was clean and lively. Waiting on an elevator was a pain, but to be expected on the first day. We booked an interior room with a king bed. Upon reaching our cabin at about 1:30pm, our door was cracked open. We proceeded to enter the room to find it COMPLETELY dirty. There was trash everywhere (the floor, the dressers, the fridge, etc,). There were two full size beds, instead of 1 king bed. Upon opening the refrigerator there were 2 bottles of wine. One opened and the other brand new. We did not pre-order a bottle of wine, therefore it was not ours. There were two blue Carnival beach towels placed on a stool. It was clear that they were not properly folded. There was even a white crust on one of the blue beach towels. There was a balled up blanket inside one of the closet spaces. There were two big bottles of water, provided by Carnival. We found out that these two bottles of water were not free and were suppose to have tags on them with their price. Luckily for us, we traveled with two other people whom had a balcony suite. Their room was the complete opposite of ours, clean with clean towels, and no trash. Once we placed our one suitcase in the room, we proceeded to guest services. At guest services we were told to come back after 4:30pm in order to sort out the bed situation. We then headed back up to our suite and came into contact with our steward. He asked us how our room was and we explained to him that it was dirty. We informed him of the trash, the wine, the towels, and the balled up blanket. He stated he would take care of it immediately. We then spent the next hour in our friends suite pretty flustered. Since we were told to wait till after 4:30 to contact guest services we decided to go eat at the Guy's burger joint. The burger was EXCELLENT! We returned to our suite at about 3:00pm to find the beach towels had been changed, the balled up blanket and wine bottles were removed. All the trash was now sitting in a pile on top of the refrigerator to include a iPad stylus. The beds had been pushed together to make a king size bed. Due to trash still being in the room we decided we were going to complain to guest services as soon as it was 4:30pm. As we were leaving we ran into our steward again and had to literally point out that the trash and iPad stylus that did not belong to us. He then removed the trash and asked us if we wanted him to clean our room in the morning (8:00am-12:00pm) or the evening (6:00pm-9:00pm). We informed him that the evening would be best for us due to us planning on attending events/dinner overnight. At 4:30 we went straight to guest services to complain about the room not being done on time, the response we got was "well sometimes they are running late." We explained to them that even after we told our steward that the problem was still not corrected. Their customer service was definitely NOT customer service. We then returned to the room to find that finally after 3 times things were correct. We then enjoyed the rest of our evening by exploring the ship. We even attended some activities. Orlando, the Cruise director was awesome and definitely made it feel like a vacation. Day 2 at sea was great ! There was so much to do on the ship that you hardly even realize you're in the middle of the ocean. We decided to attend the dinner at the Washington dining hall. Our server Subham was absolutely amazing! The dinner was very upscale and Subham truly took care of us. We even made some new friends. They were a seasoned couple whom were carnival experts. This was their 31st cruise so they shared a lot of intel with us about the Valor and the excursions. Once dinner was over we headed back to our cabin. We purposely placed the "snoozing" sign on our door because we did not want the room to be cleaned that day. It was not cleaned. Day 3 we arrived in Cozumel on time. We were off to our excursions! We did the Deluxe catamarin, snorkel and beach excursion it was PERFECT. The Fury crew keep the party going and made the excursion fun. The beach was clean and provided plently to do for all ages. Once we were done with the excursion we returned to the pier with plenty of time to shop. The shops were okay with the typical souvenirs. We decided to return to the ship at about 4:00PM even though we didn't have to be back until 5:30pm. Once we returned to our suite it had been cleaned, even though we requested the evening time cleaning (6:00pm-9:00pm). The room was clean. Went to dinner and once again Subhan did not disappoint. Day 3, Yucatan was okay. Probably won't do another excursion in Yucatan. Once we returned to our suite the TV was not working. We contacted guest services and they sent a steward to the room whom was unable to fix it and stated, "Say Ma there is nothing I can do." "The remote is not connecting to the tv." He then informed us that a technician would be come early in the morning to fix the tv. Even though we were hardly in the room, the TV was good for night time. The next morning came and still no technician. The Tech did not come to the room until late into the evening. So we spent a day and a half without tv. Overall the most frustrating experience was in regards to our suite. Everything else such as the food, the activities, and the drinks were great.

Everything but the CABIN was awesome!!!

Cabin Review

Interior Upper/Lower
Cabin 1A 6463
The cabin was DIRTY! There was trash, wine bottles, dirty towels and blankets. The issue had to be addressed 3 times the first day before it was properly cleaned. The TV was broken for a day and a half. We did not receive a towel animal until the third day.

  • Fury Catamaran Snorkeling
The fury crew was awesome. They made the excursion fun. They danced with us and kept the drinks coming. We had plenty of time at the beach and plenty of time after which to shop at the pier.

Our tour guide Carlos/Charlie was very informative and comical. The only concern with this excursion was we did not have much time to explore the city of Merida.
