  3. Caribbean Princess
We chose this cruise to celebrate our 35 wedding anniversary and our friends 45th . We have sailed with princess over 25 times. The plus- our cabin attendant Ariel was wonderful, the rest was as expected. Just ok, the food was ok, the service was ok, the entertainment was pretty good but there was nothing to go wow about. Out of wine in vines and dining room - how a ship could run out of lots of wines on their menu is a mystery, we think of princess as our comfortable shoe , know what they can deliver and don't over expect but are gradually being put off by continual cheapening of the brand - it's now coach class.and there is nothing wrong with that if you are not spending business class dollars. The cabins are tired and bathrooms confining compared to other lines and the Caribbean is an older lady, the wear is showing. The ports were great and the time in each worked well though when it was known we were not going to lehavre it would have been nice to over night in Edinburgh - it's a tender port - couldn't have been that expensive rather than trundle off to guernsey - I hope the decision wasn't based on the potential implication of missing two ports and compensation. All in all we had a good time - not a great time and not a rah rah princess time. It's ok , it's certainly not bad, the service is good and staff willing - but manage your expectations against the cost of your trip - there is value for money but it's getting tight, Shops- ok but waaaay to much effy promo. Crown grill - good Sabatinis - awful - terrible menu Vines - great service - out of too many wines Steamers and bbbq place - who knows - never went and never talked to any one who did MDR - average service , adequate food - bland Grill - get some pagers and packaged condiments - send us away and let us come back for our order instead of all making the line wait. The burger I had was good. Buffet - no go - won't do buffet unless no touching utensils by passengers - Entertainment - was very entertaining in the evening - not much offered on sea days except "sales" - We had a good time but based on our experience the product is slipping - and seems cheap - very limited menu. it semis menus are dumbed down with inexpensive ingredients - or if slightly extravagant - very small portion - trying to feed us on $2 per serving given buying power. Perhaps. We will always go on princess but only if there is great itinerary. Or a quick getaway at a very good price -
