We have been cruising in Europe and Caribbean for years but decided to experience the Mississippi and Southern history and culture on American Queen. This turned out to be a fabulous cruise. Great weather, incredible ship, stateroom and service. Food superb. Entertainment better than our ocean cruises. Most of all we enjoyed the casual pace of exploring many small southern cities. The people were very cordial and the hop-on-hop-off buses took us to the best sites in each town. Many glamorous southern plantations in original condition. Terrific museums highlighting civil war, Mississippi river, southern slave economy, and many contributions of blacks both freeman and slaves to our country. Yes the boat is mostly seniors. But since the boat is relatively small, we had the opportunity to meet so many kind, gentle and wise couples from all over the country and the world that it was truly hard leaving them at the end of the cruise. We made many new friends and plan to keep in touch with them.

Overall the best cruise in years. We plan to go on the Pacific Northwest cruise with this same company next year.
