We liked the itinerary of this cruise. We've done the Caribbean, Bermuda and Hawaii. Plus, we didn't have to fly to the port. That's a huge plus!! Cape Liberty at Bayonne was fairly easy to get to. Embarkation was very easy. On the ship by 10:45. One of our bags wasn't delivered till around 5pm and I think our room steward went looking for it. Adolf was wonderful! Disembarkation took quite a while. There were not enough agents at Customs.
This was our first Quantum class cruise. Anthem is beautiful, although it wasn't completely to our liking. We love the Schooner Bar on all the other ships we've been on, but this one leaves much to be desired. It seems small and congested and there are no windows. The layout of the ship just wasn't to our liking. No matter where we went, the crew was very pleasant and happy.
We ate at Wonderland (interesting and very good), Chops (always a favorite) and Jaimie's (delicious). The food in the main dining room (Chic) was very good. Much better than the last cruise we were on in April 2016 on the Serenade. The portions were larger and there were better choices.
We learned our lesson. Don't book a room on the top deck of staterooms. Pay attention to where it's located. When we booked, the Next Cruise agent said that it was under a restaurant and wouldn't be open at night. We had so much noise at night. Heavy carts were being rolled around, pots and pans were banging. This noise began around 10 pm and continued till around midnight. Then we were awakened from a sound sleep (wearing earplugs) around 3:30 or 4:00 am. with the same noises. I recommend not booking this room.
