My 92 year old mom wanted to do this, so my sister and I took her. It was wonderful. We stayed in Room 401 on Queen of the West, which held the three of us easily. (They moved out the large bed and gave us three twins: perfect!) Mom's vision is very limited, so it was mostly about staying aboard and enjoying the time together as we leisurely moved along the Columbia River.
The room had a refrigerator, Keurig, sofa, desk, easy chairs...was so comfortable, and the view from our picture windows (on both sides of the room/ship) so delightful that we were able to comfortably be in the room with mom as needed during the day.
Food was so delicious, and portions were appropriate (you could ask for half portions). Late afternoon cocktail hour (with appetizers) provided the time to mingle with other guests as desired.
Wonderfully large room with views through picture windows on both sides of the ship. Totally private deck on one side (with table, and several chairs) and mostly private on the other side as well. (People could walk by, but rarely did. Near the elevator. Stocked with wine, juices, water, and snacks. Keurig in the room. Bathroom small but adequate. Sofa, 2 easy chairs and a desk with coffee table...made playing cards, etc. easy.
