We sail out of Galveston because we can drive there and because Liberty is a great ship. We got a mini-suite for the first time and back-to-backed. Loved our room--walk-in closet, full size bathtub, balcony with chairs, table, and lounges. Good ice show and aerialist production. Especially enjoyed piano bar and country western band. Food, as usual, was excellent. Only 2 negatives for us--smoke in the casino and drifting over into the piano bar and the somewhat controlled mayhem of departure. Either drag your own bags off the ship or prepare for about 2 hours to get through the process.
Our favorite time aboard is in the Diamond Lounge. The staff is great--they remember your drink preferences and are quite friendly. Best of all, is the conversation and friends you make. You WILL see them again and that keeps us coming back.
This ship and its itineraries make a great vacation for the money.
Great cabin.
We normally stay in the Howard Johnson's the night before the cruise. Accommodations are adequate, but overpriced on cruise night. Advantage is, you can park during your cruise free. There is a shuttle service across the street that is reasonably priced.
Galveston has a great beach and really good places to eat.
Good shopping.
Best port facilities and shopping.
