We wanted to see Italy and Greece, but ended up loving Croatia and Montenegro; a pleasant surprise. The Star was older and smaller. However, we were only aboard in the evenings, and the sleeping quarters, food and entertainment were good. One problem was the waits for the free dining. Because there were very few children, and the side trips came back later in the day, most people opted for eating later...and wanted to use the dining included option, rather than paying for special restaurants.(Norwegian is trying to get people to pay for their food...they need to focus on having more dining options with less crowds for the non specialty restaurants.) We missed 2 shows because of waiting times for our supper. The ones we saw were exceptional. We finally solved the problem by attending the 7 p.m. show and eating afterwards... (Had a snack on deck late afternoon.) We chose this cruise because of the ports of call, and were not disappointed. The excursions were worth the cost mainly because the guides had so much information. Wish that we had had something to eat earlier though...we would have a 7 a.m. breakfast, then nothing until 2 p.m. Be ready for a lot of walking and a lot of stairs! We probably would have had issues with the pool and loungers if we had been on deck much...but did enjoy the hot tubs! Finally, we had the bar package and the bartenders were all very good. Cheers! We will cruise again!

Cabin Review

Inside

Not as good as the newer ships...Hated the carpet..room was smaller than on other cruises....but the bed was comfortable; big bath and lots of storage.

Port Reviews

Venice

The Hotel Venicia was excellent...great balcony..wonderful breakfast. Close to transportation. Venice itself...lots of old buildings, narrow walkways, canals, boats. Should have taken water taxi...a long, long walk to the bridge and square. Not a lot of signs. Good food at good price. (Be careful...the price of fish is by the pound, not by the plate!)
