I'm no cruise connoisseur and this was in fact only my 3rd cruise in 25 years, the others being with Norwegian in 1992 and Star Clippers in 2009. Both quite small ships which I thought suited me best as I didn't like the idea of being one among thousands arriving in every port but I was persuaded by friends to go on this cruise and I'm glad I did as, despite the size of the ship and the 2000 plus passengers, this ship never seemed overcrowded.

We were on the Deck 8, Cabin 8008, and this was a pretty good location overall.

We had some teething troubles, such as our door not working and taking almost 30 minutes to gain access, our shower having a leak of some kind, and an issue with the TV. All were resolved by the 2nd day.

Oceanview Picture Window

Cabin OA

Cabin was OK. Roomy enough for 2. Bedding did not feel particularly new but bed was comfortable. You'll hear all rehearsals for shows from your room as this one is just above the theatre.

Port Reviews

Venice

I feel its unfair to count Venice as a port of call in terms of the cruise itinerary since it's the start and end of the cruise but the city is stunning and has much to offer. I felt sorry for those on the ship who came straight to the ship from the airport and saw Venice only from the deck.

Dubrovnik

Dubrovnik is stunning and my only wish is that we'd got there at the planned time so that we could walk the walls as well as take the cable car.

Kotor

I got up at 5am so that I could see the entrance to this harbour and it was worthwhile. Kotor is a wee bit run down compared to some ports but the view from the hill is stunning and worth the climb

Katakolon (Olympia)

Unless you're going to Olympia, you'd be better to have a pool day on the ship.

Athens (Piraeus)

Ran the gauntlet of taxi drivers and touts to go for the red sightseeing bus. They do tickets which include a sandwich and water and overall quite good. This is probably the cheapest way to the Acropolis.

Split

Lovely town and has a lot to offer. Would have loved enough time to see Krka but it would have been rather rushed
