This cruise from Amsterdam to Budapest was a very good way to visit that part of Europe. The attraction of the Scenic package is that it includes excursions (usually a choice of two or sometimes three) at each of the stops en route. While sometimes all this activity felt a bit hectic, the overall experience of the excursions was very positive - the excursions included out of the ordinary events such as a medieval dinner at Marksburg castle and a concert at the Palais Liechtenstein. The negative side of the Scenic experience was the frequent claim that we were experiencing five star luxury. The cruise was enjoyable, but neither the accommodation nor the dinners were "five star luxury" (e.g. as compared to Seabourn). The design of our room was fine (except for the closet doors), and the balcony was nice, but the bedroom and bathroom were fairly basic (with some maintenance required). Breakfasts and lunches had a large assortment of good food. Dinners were fine, and well-presented, but generally there was nothing particularly special about the food and the service was sometimes a bit haphazard.
