It was recommended by a friend. We thoroughly enjoyed seeing all the lovely sights we visited. Beautiful scenery and fantastic architecture. Cabin was excellent, food good and staff on ship were excellent. We enjoyed some breathtaking scenery and would not have missed it for anything. I am gluten free and every night the Maitre De would come and speak to me about what I could have on the menu which was suitable. Excellent!!!!

The down side was that there was just too much going on with little time for relaxing. Most of the excursions started at 8.00 am which meant setting the alarm clock to get us up before 7.00 am so that we could have breakfast and get ready for the day and be on the coach by 8.00 am. We haven't had to set the alarm clock since we retired six years ago! When we got back in the afternoon we often had to rush to get changed in order to get to the daily "talk" and then go to dinner. Everything was done in a rush and by the end of the week, couples were just dropping out of excursions because they were just too tired from rushing about and just wanted to relax a bit.

Also the COACH journeys were chaotic. The guides never seemed to know how many people should be on the coach. Everyone got back to the coach on time but we ended up waiting needlessly for imaginary people because the guides didn't know if everyone was back or not!!! The worst time was the day we went home. We had to be out of our cabin by 8.00 am and then were taken to Nuremberg and told to be back on the coach by 12.00 midday. Everyone was back at the pick up point early but the guide had four people on the list who were definitely not on our coach and we waited 20 minutes for them, knowing there was no-one else to come. By the time we left, the next coach party had turned up at their 12.15 slot for a different coach, and they started getting on our coach causing even more chaos. We then had to rush when we arrived at the airport because of the delay. Why didn't the guides COUNT people on to the coach and given sometimes one guide would take us to a venue and another guide would collect us, why didn't the guides communicate with each other regarding numbers??? One day 15 people went on an excursion and Scenic sent TWO FORTY SEATER COACHES to collect just 15 of us?? Even then the numbers were wrong because two people had decided to stay on the boat and there were just 13 of us which the boat knew about?? On one excursion we were on coach No 2 and were told to go back to coach No 2, but when we arrived back at the coach, the guides were telling us to just get on any old coach!!!! How could numbers possibly be checked in this chaotic way. Things like this spoil the holiday and we would have thought that Scenic would be much more organised than this given they have been operating for years.

Cabin Review

Cabin Balcony suite

Could have done with a smaller bed and a bit more room to walk round the room. Everything was clean and there was a lot of storage space. Enjoyed being able to open the window of our balcony and watch the scenery in the limited free time we had.
