We chose this cruise as a way of seeing Tahiti and the Society Islands while staying in the comfort of our lovely stateroom. The ship is not too big and carries fewer passengers than the big cruise lines and we prefer the intimacy of a smaller ship. Another reason for choosing this cruise was that all food and drink is included in the price.
The ship is an older style but maintained to a high standard. We had a stateroom on deck 7 with a balcony which was lovely.
There are three restaurants to choose from for dining. All food was of a high standard in the French style and the service was excellent. The staff were all friendly, very attentive and efficient and made us feel welcome.
There was a range of entertainment (the band is excellent) and activities but we chose not to utilise a lot of it as we preferred to do our own thing.
The service generally was fantastic. There was always somebody there to attend to every request.
They were all tender ports (except for Papeete) but the service with these was excellent. We did not encounter any delays. Again the staff were there to lend a helping hand for those were who not so sure on their feet. Excursions were all well organised and again there were plenty of people to ensure things ran smoothly.
Embarkation and disembarkation were very efficient and took no time at all.
We did not travel with children and would say that this cruise is not suitable for children.
Overall our Paul Gauguin cruise was fabulous and we just loved it.
Our stateroom was beautiful. It had a very cosy feel. We had a balcony which we would highly recommend. It was lovely to have breakfast with the balcony door open and to see where we had arrived at that morning.
It was very clean and the room attendant did an excellent job every day.
The bathroom was stocked with an excellent range of good quality toiletries.
Went on a truck to the village. Not a lot at the village though.
Glass bottom boat over the reef. Saw lots of tropical fish, a turtle and moray eels. The guide was excellent and spoke both English and French.View All 9 Glass Bottom Boat Tour Reviews
