Brochure stated gourmet meals across all dining venues but I did experience this even at dinner. Breakfast was straight forward American style buffet with nothing special certainly not gourmet. Portofinos was disappointing as the dinner again did not offer a gourmet dining such as I have experienced on ocean cruise ships which have a Portofinos.
I was somewhat concerned about security during the day. Passengers were not checked after returning from tours and in this world today especially Europe. Someone with evil intent could mingle with the returning passengers up the gangeway and enter the foyer without being checked. Each passenger did have a badge which had to be scanned but no one was insisting this be done for all coming aboard. I saw several passengers who did not scan and yes there was an announcement later calling them but that could be too late. River ships seem like good targets and I would recommend tightening up security for the sake of all passengers but for the reputation of the cruise line should a tragedy occur. No one expected the massacre in Las Vegas but it happens and again Europe can be a hot bed of terrorist actions.
Despite my comments the cruise was very enjoyable and Scenic staff did a great job organizing tours and serving passengers.
as I mentioned in the shipboard survey the bathroom lighting was somewhat dull we had to use the makeup desk for better lighting. The potlight bulbs were distinctly different and contributed to the contrasting illumination.
