NCL's ship Escape is huge. This was to be an Eastern Caribbean cruise but heavy hurricane destruction in the Virgin Islands changed our entire itinerary. I did enjoy 2 ports: snorkeling in Roatan and the chance at Costa Maya to travel deep into the countryside to see a unique set of Mayan ruins. NCL did not really contact us about this change unless we went to their website. That is significant. They knew for about 10 days that the ship's entire route would be changed but only called me 2 days before departure. We could only book shore excursions onboard and not pre-book due to this change; thankfully this worked out with the first day at sea and we could get in line to book. Onboard with 4,000+ people, things seemed a little crowded and pedestrian. While everything was new and clean the words elegant and/or sophisticated do not apply. Friends in other cabins told me their TV was never repaired after reporting it more than 3 times to the cabin steward and to the front desk. Another friend said they met with rudeness after trying to use travelers checks, even thought the website 2 weeks before the cruise said they would be accepted. If a relaxing 5 star experience is what you are looking for, look someplace else.

Balcony Stateroom

Cabin BD

Clean and adequate if a little tight. My room mate and I slept in 2 beds 4 inches apart.

Port Reviews

Harvest Caye

Just a huge free pool and beach with many local concessions.
