We chose this cruise on the recommendation of a friend. Cabin 3628 was very stuffy and noisy caused by the ships engine and extractor fan. As this was our first cruise we didn't know what to expect but certainly not hard sell on everything. We didn't have a drinks package and the cost of wine etc was prohibitive. Needless to say those who had a drinks package were drinking from early morning until late at night to get value for money. Smokers were allowed on the deck and in the casino and we found this offputting. The tours were ok but again very expensive. The plusses were the staff, food and some of the entertainment was excellent. However the windjammer was a bun fight and we preferred the other restaurants. We paid the gratuity before the cruise but found envelopes left on our bed on the last day - we gave our room attendant extra as we felt he was worth it but. He seemed unhappy about the sum given and informed us that his entire salary was just tips indeed on one cruise he received 72 dollars in total for two weeks work and 17 cabins to clean. If this is true RC need to give their staff a basic salary. Perhaps we are not large ship cruisers and will try smaller cruises ships in the future.
