We chose this cruise because it was Southampton to Southampton, and because of the itinerary. We found that the sea days at the beginning were fine, as we were getting use to the ship, but on the way home, they seemed endless. Also, we knew that Cunard go for formal wear, and many go on the cruise for that reason. For us it became a chore.

We had been on the QE on a 4 day cruise in 2011, but this was our 1st proper cruise, and so compared with most, we were novices. The embarkation and disembarkation were very good, and all the service on board was to a high standard. We were disappointed with our cabin, but we did book late, so had little choice. We were on floor 8 and that was OK during the poor weather. We chose Balacony Club to get the flexible eating times, and although costly, it was very good. The entertainment was a mixture, the highlight acts were all good, the on board troupe were OK. We didn't do any paid for excursions, but walked to the port, or took the shuttle bus. It worked for us, but in most of the places visited we weren't the only cruise ship in, so they were crowded and you needed to plan your priorties. The Cunard line isn't the cheapest and we found the on board priced high, it was OK for people who had a lot of on board spending, but otherwise the money ratchets up. I think we became aware that all inclusive may have a benefit, as you know the cost at the start.

Club Balcony

Cabin A2

Cabin was tight, but perfectly formed. Bathroom small. For us it was too small for 17 days
