We have sailed with Cunard over 20 times in the last 30 years but our last trip on the QM2 will be the last cruise with Cunard, it's simply not what it used to be.
The ships can't be faulted, they are as elegant as they ever were but what you see in the brochures isn't what you'll find aboard. The brochures depict elegant older couples, that's how Cunard used to be, that's what they were known for, that's the image that Cunard still promote in their brochures, sadly it's not like that at all.
Not everyone wants to dress formally even on the formal nights that's fair enough, smart casual used to be "par for the course" on Cunard but even that standard has slipped to the point where you be forgiven for thinking you were on a coach trip rather than a Cunard cruise.
You get a warm welcome in Halifax, well worth seeing the historic sights.
