We cruised out of Vancouver and spent the day prior, seeing the sights. There is lots to see and do in Vancouver, so do your homework. As we were driven into the city by friends, we drove around and took in Stanley Park, then drove to the Capilano Suspension Bridge and spend the afternoon there. Tip: There are discount tickets to be found on the Internet, so do your homework. If you are unable to purchase discount tickets in advance, they offer a military, student, and seniors discount at the ticket window. Highly recommended.
This was our first cruise ever and was selected for us by a trusted travel agent. She got us a free drinks package, so I think we did alright booking with the travel agent. Being first-timers and unsure about motion sickness, we let her select our cabin (#1086), which, turns out, was spot on - lower in the ship and in the middle - we felt very little movement at night and it was very quiet.
In spite of other reviews I've read, I found the cabin to be quite spacious. Well, for a cruise, anyway - how much more space do you need? We had a desk, table, sofa, and queen-sized bed, as well as a tub in our bathroom. I felt neither claustrophobic nor crowded. The bed was comfortable, the room was quiet.
No complaints. Just how big does one expect it to be, being on a ship? I found our cabin to be plenty spacious, not crowded, with enough storage for our stuff. Someone had tipped me to fit my suitcase under the bed and I did - it fit perfectly and was out of the way.
There's lots to see and do in Vancouver, so do your homework in advance. Plenty to see within walking distance of Canada Place.
Both Lyft & Uber are in Juneau, so do not spend money on transportation. Take yourself to Mendenhall Glacier; do not pay for the overpriced shuttle.
Get up early so as to not miss any bit!
Best place for shopping - all the same stuff as the other ports, better sales, and then you don't have to worry about storing it.
