We love Viking. This was our third on Viking Ocean. We began with the pre-cruise in Oslo, did the Wake of the Vikings, then the post-cruise in Montreal. The tour in Oslo and train ride were very nice. There was no tour in Montreal. We knew that, but many who were with us on the post-cruise did not. We had booked our own tours there. We were happy with the hotels--Bristol in Oslo, Radisson Blu in Bergen, and Westin in Montreal. We were lucky in Montreal as our room was ready within an hour of arrival, which wasn't the case for most. The cruise itself was wonderful. We loved the Chef's Table (4 seatings for us), Manfredi's, and World Cafe. The Pool Grill has good food, but the line can back up and take a while to be served. We also did the Tea time twice and loved that. The Spa was also terrific. We used it five times, enjoying the workout room and sauna/steam room/hot tubs each time. We only participated in a couple of the entertainment offerings--Abba and Broadway. Both were excellent. Our cabin was the same number as we have previously had and met our needs. All-in-all, we were very happy. The only downside for us was weather prevented us going ashore at two of the stops, but we understood the safety issues associated with trying to haul a bunch of "old" people in tenders in rough seas. Would not have been pretty.

Excellent cabin. We had everything we needed.

Port Reviews

Torshavn (Faroe Islands)

We took the Vestamanna cliffs excursion. We knew that the birds had left in August, but most of the passengers did not and were disappointed. But, the cliffs were wonderful.
